Congrats to Blake Laitner, Michael Blackman, Def Davyne (Desmond Elias Ford) and LoLoRae for having their video shown in Belgium. I’m glad they didn’t waffle in their decision making. (Flemish humor)

Belgium is the country which is home to one of my favorite cartoons and my favorite chocolate—“The Adventures of Tintin” by Hergé and  Godiva.

Hoping for the adventures of “Know About Us” team  to be as rich and sweet as Godiva chocolate.

“Following In My Footsteps” by Mort Laitner

I’m driving with my son, Blake, headed to Tampa for Silver Screen Short Film Festival.

“Blake, I remember two years ago when the Silver Screen Festival was held in St. Pete. It was the first time I saw “The Stairs” on a movie theater screen. It was also my first time attending a film festival.”

“Dad, were you excited?”

“Boy was I excited and nervous. I wanted to win so bad that I trembled.”

Now it’s your chance to see how “Know About Us” looks on the big screen—50 feet by 20 feet.”

“Dad, I hope the audience applauds my film.”

Son, don’t worry. They’ll love your video. You might even win best film.”

“Dad, is the audience going to ask me questions about how the film was made?”

“I think so. They did two years ago. You handled yourself real well last time you did that.”

“Blake two years ago, I jumped to buy you a T- shirt from the festival director, Anjani Pandey.  It had the festival logo printed on it. Since you couldn’t be there, I wanted to get you a souvenir before they sold out.

“Will Anjani be there?”

“Yup. He’s a real cool guy. He acted in a number of Indian movies. Now he directs, produces and acts in films produced in the States”

“Dad, I still wear that T-shirt. Every time I put  it on. I’m proud that you and I worked on that project together.”

“Son, I hope Anjani printed a new batch of T-shirts for this years festival.”

“Me to, Dad.”

“If he did… I’ll buy two—one for each of us. And every time I wear the shirt, I’ll think about how proud I am of you.” I replied.

“La Dolce Vita” by Mort Laitner

The city of Rome, home to such movie classics as, Ben Hur, Roman Holiday , La Dolce Vita and, is now where Blake’s music video “Know About Us” is in the running for a film award.

Thanks to Rome Independent Prisma Awards we’re living La Dolce Vita.

“We are pleased to tell you that you movie has been officially selected to be part of our competition! Feel free to share the news with your friends and colleagues! You will be able to follow the competition stage by stage on our website. Monthly winners will be screened next month in Rome.

Here’s our tip: distribute your movie by choosing festivals that want to empower you and want to give you recognition. Choose festival that give value to your sacrifices and expenses.

We want to give filmmakers a precious tool to showcase their talent to a true audience of jurors and we want that to happen stage by stage, with constant feedback.

The experience is almost as surreal as a Fellini movie; making us want to shout ,” I’m Spartacus!” (Just kidding)

Well, Prisma you have an amazing laurel and now that you “know about us” Blake Laitner, Michael Blackman, Def Davyne and LoLoRae want to say, “Grazie mille” for your decision.
