This Is How You RSVP

poster with laurelsFor the readers of this blog, that are thinking, “What are the proper words to use in their Respondez s’il vous plait?” —meaning “Please Respond”.

I recommend that you study Michael Santos’ exquisite reply—short, sweet and to the point. It made my day.

Please remember Emily Posts’ admonition “Anyone receiving an invitation with an R.S.V.P. on it is obliged to reply…”, and some recent editions describe breaching this standard as “inexcusably rude”.

Dear Mr. Laitner,

“I am Michael Santos, this past month I have bought one of your books at a SFWA meeting. I would like to make a reservation for two seats. I hope it is not too late, I would love to watch the movie you directed because I saw a trailer on your web site. And hands down, I thought it was excellent and I am crazy to watch it.”

Thanks Michael. Emily Post would be proud of you.
Readers here is your invite—It is a free event.
Remember Seating is limited so you must RSVP.
